Musical history made at Oxford

History was made on May 1st, 2024, when a piece composed by Canadian Sarah Quartel as an Ensemble Laude commission was performed at Oxford University. Sarah became the first female composter in 500 years to have her work selected for the traditional May Morning celebrations. Ensemble Laude congratulates Sarah Quartel on this momentous occasion!

The Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford performed the bright and uplifting How can I keep from singing? at 6 am from the top of Magdalen Tower. The highlight of the Oxford choir year, singing from the top of the tower is an unforgettable experience. Hear the choir members describe their excitement:

And listen to Ensemble Laude’s performance of How can I keep from singing on our latest CD, Vox Femina.
