2024–2025 Season
2025 Wings Concert Series took flight
Ensemble Laude is pleased with the success of our spring 2025 Wings concerts, which took place on May 10 in Victoria and May 17 in Metchosin.
A soaring program
Under the direction of Interim Artistic Director Kathryn Whitney, the choir’s signature lush sound took flight with a curated selection of pieces celebrating those who live in the sky. Included in the program were:
- Air and TheBirds’ Lullaby by Katerina Gimon
- Here on these Branches by Sarah Quartel
- Le chant des oyseuxby Clement Janequin
- Hotaru Koiby Ro Ogura
- Spes (Hope) by Mia Makaroff
World premiere of piece by Gerda Blok-Wilson
We were thrilled to present the world premiere of the SSAA version of My Heart is like a Singing Bird, arranged especially for us by Canadian composer Gerda Blok-Wilson. To our delight, Gerda was able to attend our Metchosin concert and hear the second performance of her piece!
Ensemble Laude offers a heartfelt thank-you to Gerda for allowing us the privilege of bringing her piece to life for the first time, and for kindly donating the cost of scores.
We hope this special concert celebrating those who live in the sky, inspired our audience to soar!
Stay tuned for next season
