Dr. Elizabeth MacIsaac to take sabbatical

Dr. Elizabeth MacIsaac, founder of Ensemble Laude Choir, will be taking a one-year sabbatical from her role as Artistic Director at the conclusion of Ensemble Laude’s 2023-24 concert season. Under Dr. MacIsaac’s passionate and dedicated leadership the choir has blossomed from a small group of women singing mostly medieval music, to a high-caliber choral performance group for women and non-binary treble singers numbering sixty voices. The repertoire has expanded over the years to embrace a wide variety of genres and themes.

Dr. MacIsaac has been instrumental in commissioning several new works by Canadian composers and Ensemble Laude has had the honor of premiering them to our loyal audience base in the southern Vancouver Island area. The choir has also been recognized nationally, having been spotlighted at Canada’s National Choral Festival “Podium” and internationally, having been featured in France at the International Choralies Festival.

We are profoundly grateful to Dr. MacIsaac for establishing this community to celebrate the beauty and resilience of women’s vocal traditions throughout the ages, and for years of joyful performances that gladden the heart, lift the spirit and expand the mind. The Board of Directors of Ensemble Laude Choral Society is soliciting applications for an Interim Artistic Director. Stay tuned for updates!
