Join Ensemble Laude for a musical burst of joy and colour to top off our 2023–24 season. Our Bloom! program curates joyous music written for upper voices written by composers from around the globe, on the themes of renewal and blossoming creativity. This series of two concerts, held on April 27 and May 4, entwines spoken word with song.
In particular, Bloom! highlights current compositions by Canadian women and music in an astounding multitude of languages celebrating our many origins. Some of the Canadian composers represented are Sarah Quartel, Katerina Gimon, Marie-Claire Saindon, Eleanor Daley and Cree composer Sherryl Sewepagaham. The program also includes works by by Ysaye Barnwell (Afro-American) and Karin Rehnquist (Swedish), Part Uusberg (Estonian) and Franco Prinsloo (Dutch).
